Mission Statement

Tallahassee Comic Con Inc. is a non-profit educational, literary, and artistic corporation dedicated to the discussion and appreciation of science fiction, fantasy, and popular culture, primarily through the hosting of conventions and events.

Statement of Values

Tallahassee Comic Con was created with the idea of making a convention where geeks, nerds, and fans of anything science fiction, fantasy, and pop culture can come together to celebrate our ongoing love for our fandoms. No one should feel excluded because their fandom isn't a major one, or because their fandom has gotten insulted, harassed, or tarnished.

In that regard Tallahassee Comic Con Inc, and its Officers, staff and volunteers will:
  1. Act with integrity and honor in all manners of business with guests, vendors, sponsors, attendees, venues, partners, and the community at large.
  2. Be inclusive and respective to our fans and their fandoms.
  3. Strive to have a safe environment at our convention and events, free from bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
  4. Abide by all federal, state, and local laws.
Tallahassee Comic Con expects anyone representing the convention, (staff, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, or venues) to abide by these values.

Safe Environment Policy

We pride Tallahassee Comic Con on being a place where everybody is welcome and comfortable.

The following will not be tolerated by Tallahassee Comic Con:

  2. Hate speech, defined as speech that is intended to insult, offend, or intimidate a person because of some trait (such as race, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability).
  3. Behavior that is disruptive, destructive, or unsafe to staff, attendees, guests, sponsors, vendors, or venue, including intimidation or threats, whether verbal, physical, or electronic.
  4. Any suspected illegal activity or act.

Tallahassee Comic Con will have on site security officers. If you are subjected to or witness anything that violates our safe environment policy, please contact a security officer or volunteer immediately. Attendees cannot hand out advertising or promotional material at Tallahassee Comic Con or its events. If you are handing out material, you will be asked to stop. Costumes are a huge part of Tallahassee Comic Con. As such, we ask that attendees please use good sense and abide the following rules on costuming, posing, and photography at the convention:

  • Outfits and costumes must follow local, state and federal laws. Keep in mind that this is a family event.
  • Ask permission before taking photos of other attendees, vendors, or guests.
  • Selfie sticks and cosplay signage are allowed in the convention when used in consideration of the people around you.
  • Posing for photos is great fun, but be mindful of the people around you. Do NOT block vendor tables or booths, exit doors, or the aisles.
  • Props, weapons, and accessories that pass our Security and Weapons Policy must also be capable of remaining in your full and complete control. For example, if your eight foot long foam sword becomes a tripping or hitting hazard in a crowd, we may ask you to take the item back to your vehicle or hotel room.

Tallahassee Comic Con has a clear and concise Security & Weapons Policy that will be enforced. Read the details below.

Security & Weapons Policy

Tallahassee Comic Con strives to provide a safe environment for our guests, vendors and attendees. To do so, we adhere strictly to our Security and Weapon Policy. Any one found in violation of this policy may be asked to leave the convention and will not receive a refund.

Bags, backpacks, coolers, and strollers are allowed, but are subject to a bag check at the discretion of staff and security at any time during the event. Alcohol is strictly forbidden in the convention area.

PLEASE NOTE: Concealed or open-carry firearms are NOT permitted in the convention area.

If you use ANYTHING whether listed here or not as a weapon to bring harm to another living entity, you will be detained using any and all necessary force, the proper authorities will be notified, and you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Security will thoroughly inspect weapons of any kind to ensure that they fall under our Weapon Policy, and if passed the weapon(s) will be tagged and allowed into the convention. Once your weapon(s) have been inspected, DO NOT remove the tag for any reason. Weapons that do not pass security inspection will not be allowed into the convention; non-passed weapons will not be held at security for later retrieval.

If you are thinking of bringing a prop or accessory that you are unsure of, please contact us via Tally Comic Con Info.

All prop or replica weapons must be incapable of firing or allowing to be fired any type of projectile. Any type of ammunition is not allowed into the convention.

Water guns, Nerf guns, paintball guns and air-soft guns are permitted with the following restrictions:

  1. Guns must be rendered completely inoperable beforehand; that is there shall not be batteries installed or gas/propellant allowing the weapon to be fired.
  2. Water guns are not to be filled with any liquid in the convention areas.

  • Dart guns
  • Blow guns
  • Saws
  • Metal chains
  • Nunchaku
  • Brass knuckles
  • Explosive or incendiary devices, this includes any item that is capable of remote or direct ignition

  • Knives, swords, and daggers, but will be tied by Security in such a way that they cannot be drawn or unsheathed.
  • Bows, as long as they cannot shoot projectiles of any kind.
  • Staffs (staves), but may not have any sharpened edges.
  • Items such as bullwhips, ropes, and lassos, but must remain rolled and secured at all times.

Do not display your weapons or props in a threatening or menacing manner. For instance, it is okay to pose for a picture, but you should not brandish weapons while walking the event floor. YOU WILL BE REMOVED. Keep prop weapons in convention areas. If you leave the premises or go out into public for any reason, we recommend putting away any and all prop weaponry.

Any weapons purchased or won at the convention must remain in its original packaging and/or be checked by Weapons Check as soon as possible. All prop/costume weapons purchased at the con, to be carried during the event, must also adhere to the weapons policy.
